Reno artist Erik Holland got his start selling painting on the street in San Francisco, and painting murals in Alaska. He recently published his first book, Outback Cartoonist, supported by a grant by the Nevada Arts Council. He is the “mayor” of NadaDada Motel, during which artists rent motel rooms and make a show. He markets his plein air and studio paintings through special events, galleries, and online. He offers workshops and classes, and teaches at Rainshadow Community Charter High School.
Holland studied art at the Art Students League of New York, and the Chicago Academy of Fine Art.
The variety in Erik’s works can be seen through his use of mostly oil and acrylic to capture the diverse landscapes and structures within Nevada. From his paintings of the mountains, trees, and rivers Nevada has to offer, to his brilliant works of buildings, bridges, mine shafts, and other structures, you’re sure to find a piece that fits the feel of the comfort of your home with ease.
